Staff have now had their mailboxes fully migrated from GroupWise to Office 365. We are aware that a few issues remain for some and want to assure you that we are continuing to resolve the following:
Proxy Access
- most generic resources have now had their inbox migrated and cabinets and folders will soon follow
- users who previously had permission to generic resources should now be able to access these. Shared access to another member of staff’s mailbox or calendar will need to be granted again
Distribution Lists
- distribution lists have now been migrated and appear to be working as normal.
Logging in
- some users have reported issues with logging in. If you find you cannot log in to dMail, please contact the ICS Service Desk to report this.
Missing mail, calendar, appointments, folders
- some users are missing items from their mailbox and calendars. We can run the migration toll again for your mailbox if required, please contact the ICS Service Desk.
Archives
- user archives will be migrated from Monday 16th January.
Students mailboxes
- students are now also using Office 365 to send and receive mail. Their GroupWise mailboxes are being migrated to Office 365 this week but you may still access old email at https://gwwebmail.dundee.ac.uk
Applicant mailboxes
- applicants are now also using Office 365 to send and receive mail. Their GroupWise mailboxes are not being migrated to Office 365 but you may still access old email at https://gwwebmail.dundee.ac.uk
The Service Desk has been very busy as we support our users with the new email service so bear with us and we will resolve your request as soon as possible. In the meantime, thank you for your patience.
Please remember step-by-step instructions for common tasks are available on the Office 365 support pages www.dundee.ac.uk/ics/services/email/msoffice365/common-tasks
Please do continue to contact the Service Desk if you are experiencing any difficulty.
Hi
I tried to log on to my old emails using https://gwwebmail.dundee.ac.uk
But i got the error message “Your mailbox is unavailable. Please contact your system administrator.”
What do i do about this?
All student mail has been migrated to your Office 365 account – if they are not there log a call with Service Desk who will remigrate your mail.
I’m not sure how distribution lists can be working as normal contacts don’t seem to be functioning. The email address for my old contacts appears to have been migrated but they don’t appear in the contact window without me opening it up and doing a SAVE and CLOSE. Otherwise it says there is not a valid email associated with the contact. Is there an alternative to individually opening all of my contacts and doing a SAVE and CLOSE to get the emails to be visible?
Also, does anyone know if it is possible to over-ride the fact that recipients can refuse a “read receipt” request in Outllook? Using Groupwise it was very handy to see if recipients had opened emails but with Outlook they appear to be able to read emails but block this knowledge from the sender.
The read receipt function is owned by the receiver – the short answer being that if the person does not want to show a read receipt then it doesn’t.
Well I think that’s a shame. It wasn’t the case with Groupwise (although I know it was limited to other groupwise users) and I think that was a lot more useful for course organisers.
