Ms Wendy Rudland, Careers Service, Aberdeen University, will be giving a a brief presentation on her University’s experience of the project so far.

The University is a project partner in the Scottish Funding Council’s Learning to Work 2: Making the Most of Masters (MMM) Legacy Project with CASTLE taking forward this work across the institution. The University joined the project in the Summer of 2015, to reflect one aspect of the University’s Enabling Strategy on Employability, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, in terms of the need to ensure:
‘Where necessary, the development of more effective liaison between the University and prospective employers and employment sectors, to ensure that the University’s teaching provision is attuned to employers’ existing and likely future needs from their graduate workforce.’
MMM is a Times Higher Education award-winning project that has supported work-based learning and work-based projects for over three years at the original partner institutions of the Universities of Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Stirling. The MMM model is based on, ‘the use of external Work Based Projects as an alternative to the traditional academic Masters dissertation’. At this stage of the project two actions are required:
1. to collate information on Masters programmes in the University which may already implement this approach
2. to begin discussions with Schools as to whether any taught Masters programmes currently being delivered would be appropriate for this project and/or whether any programmes that are planned or under development might be appropriate for this project

You may have seen the recent articles in the media about the changes to the funding model for the HEA and subsequent changes to institutional membership and individual Fellowship.
These changes are currently only taking place in England and Wales and the existing model will remain the same in Scotland for the next year.

Issue #3 Exploring Creativity through #creativeHE

‘The third issue of our magazine describes the ‘Creativity for Learning in Higher Education open learning course’, designed and led by Chrissi Nerantzi one of our Founders. It paints a vivid picture of the ways in which participants engaged in the course and the open discussions and relationships that emerged naturally through interaction . It provides some interesting insights into creativity and the process of learning in an online environment gained by different participants as they try to make sense of their experience and draw deeper meanings from it. ‘
