Developing new smoke detection sensors which will target the young and old

Preliminary research following the 2013 Philpott fatal fire case  in which 6 children died in a fire suggested that conventional smoke detection systems did not wake the children at the early stages of the fire.  This project will develop the earlier research and aims to investigate alternative detection mechanisms for both the young and old.
