Microsoft Update – August & September

The August and September Microsoft Updates will be released w/b 30 September.

Every month we review and push out Microsoft Windows Server Update Service (WSUS) updates to our Managed Desktop/Laptops and Central Learning & Teaching (CLT, used in central IT suites and teaching rooms ) desktop PCs. These updates are essential to ensure the Microsoft software on our PCs is up-to-date, secure and resilient.

We receive the Windows Update on the second Tuesday of every month (Patch Tuesday) which we check and monitor for vulnerabilities.  We then release the updates on the following Tuesday. Over the last two months we have delayed pushing out the updates as Microsoft’s quality control has drawn criticism from the patching community over the past couple of months.

We are now satisfied that we can safely issue the majority of these updates for August and September, but will be withholding a few that continue to display issues. The updates will be released in the next few days. You may be prompted to restart your computer once the process is completed.
