When it comes to navigating academic resources, lecturers play a pivotal role in guiding students towards essential materials. One such tool is the resources list, compiled to support each taught module. So, what happens when students need additional resources or require more information on specific topics?
Meeting Student Demand:
Student demand often dictates the acquisition of additional resources. When a significant number of students place holds on specific materials, it signals a need for expanded access. In response, the library may buy extra copies or electronic versions of these resources, ensuring access for all learners.
Enabling Student Input:
Students are active participants in shaping their educational journey. Recognising this, Library Services offers avenues for students to voice their resource needs and preferences.
Requesting Additional Resources:
For those seeking extra copies of essential texts or recommending additional materials, the process is simple. Students can send an email to morebooks@dundee.ac.uk, outlining their requests. Whether it’s for a dissertation, thesis, or personal project, this avenue empowers students to tailor their academic experience to their unique needs. Send the details of the book and why you need it using your Dundee email address.
Utilising the More Books Form:
Another avenue for resource recommendations is the More Books – Student Resource Recommendation form. This form allows students to submit their suggestions directly, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs addressed promptly.
More information is also available on our Recommend a Resource library guide.
Spotlight on Student Requests:
Currently, at the entrance of the Main Library, display cases feature a variety of books requested by students from June 2023 to March 2024. This showcase demonstrates the diverse interests of our student community and the adaptability of library services in meeting their changing requirements.
In conclusion, by responding to student demand and empowering student input, we create a vibrant academic community where every voice matters.
