Zining Li is your Vice-President of Student Activities. He is responsible for organising student events and assisting student societies to build and develop. Zining oversees the management of over 160 societies at DUSA and supports students to find new opportunities to develop their interests, talents and skills outside their academic studies.
The OneDundee bloggers had a chat with Zining to help you get to know him better:
Q: Zining, why did you decide to run for this role?
A: During my third year I participated in the Student Representative Council (SRC) as the General Representative. I engaged with students from all backgrounds and enjoyed making friends with them in my role. I also assisted my fellows in organising more events, including the Chinese New Year Event and Climate Change Conference, which led to me having a great passion for organising events.
Q: What are your aims for the year?
A: In my campaign, I would like to attain these goals:
- Create more public events to improve engagement between DUSA and students.
- Assist societies in organising more events and giving students a new platform to illustrate themselves.
- Create more public events to improve inter-universities engagement which can help students to have more opportunities to broaden horizons.
Q: What can you help students with?
A: I can improve the engagement between DUSA and students. I would like to encourage students to participate in and organise societies. I will also assist the wellbeing of societies so that they can achieve their values.
Q: What made you choose to study at Dundee?
A: Dundee is an amazing city with sunshine and friendly people.
Q: What’s the best piece of advice you can offer a new student?
A: Explore yourself, keep away from your comfort zone and do not hesitate to capture meaningful opportunities.
Q: What’s your favourite memory during your time at Dundee?
A: I enjoyed the time with my colleagues when I was in SRC, in which I broadened my horizon and improved my interpersonal skills.
