So, some people may know that Dundee was competing to win City of Culture 2017. Unfortunately we didn’t win (Hull did, well done to them) but we certainly made a good effort and it has really highlighted the passion and variety in our city.
I think this is important for students to realise as well because it is easy to be drawn in to the student life and forget about the city around you.
You can take a look at the official campaign page here. There are a lot of great sentiments and ideas there. It can be quite educational as well, hearing about different people’s experiences of the city.
So here are some pictures I have taken over this year (nothing special, just times I have been in Dundee and only had my phone on me, but I do think they show some of the beauty of Dundee).

‘Scum’dee might’ve a bit of a bad reputation, but when I actually moved there I found it to be pretty much unfounded. Standing on the Law at night, looking down on the city’s lights and the Firth is just about one of my favourite views on this planet. Other great places are Broughty Ferry, Magdalen Green, McManus or RRS Discovery.
