Today I had to go on “official law student business” to the University of St Andrew’s Law Fair. This is a great opportunity for #UoD students studying on the English law or Dual law programme to meet English firms and get some insight into what type of candidate they are looking to recruit. It’s also a great excuse to leave the library and have a day out. Here’s what I got up to:
(1) I went to the law fair
After all, this was the main purpose of the visit. So after hoping off the 99 at St Andrew’s Bus Station I headed over to Younger Hall, just of North Street, to see what was going on. When I arrived, I received a warm welcome from University of St Andrew’s staff who were more than happy to see some #UoD students make an appearance. They emphasised the event was open to everyone and even joked that #UoD had stolen us from them (the University of Dundee and University of St Andrews originally shared a law school until #UoD was emancipated in 1967).
(2) Went to the best burger bar in town
Blackhorn is without doubt the best burger bar you will find in St Andrews . If you like Shake Shack you will love this. I go almost every time I come to St Andys and can recommend the bacon burger with cheese and chunky fries. Also they also do killer milkshakes. Disclaimer: these are my view alone and do not necessarily represent that of MTV/UoD
(3) Watched some golf
Currently the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is taking place in St Andrews and luckily I was able to check some of it out. For you golf enthusiasts, #UoD is perfectly located to one of the best golf courses in the world! So be sure to check out our Golf Society who run regular trips throughout the year!
(4) Checked out the yellow door
For you St Andy’s newbies, it may not be on the tourist maps or guided tours- but be sure to check out the yellow door. Nothing to it really, it’s just really cute. And to be honest, this speaks for St Andrew’s in general-its just really cute and the kind of place you need to take your granny when she comes to visit you. Cup of tea anyone?
(5) Last but not least- a trip to the beach!
There is nothing like fresh sea air to clear your head and relax before you head back to the city. Grab a hot chocolate and head down to the beach for a stroll along the beautiful shoreline. If you’re feeling cute, wait for sunset.
And with that said, it’s time to head back to the city. Because as much as I love the town, theres no place quite like #UoD.
