The Enchanted Forest

About an hour’s train journey away from Dundee, lies a small town called Pitlochry, home to a forest that for a whole month  of every year for the past fifteen years turns into a magical light show.

This year’s theme was ‘Shimmer’, featuring disco balls, flashing lights, beautiful music and a giant tree fairy.  Tickets are in high demand so it’s advised to book early enough. When booking, you choose a specific time slot for your chosen date and this is the time that your shuttle bus from the centre of Pitlochry departs.  This journey only takes five minutes, but means that the forest isn’t surrounded by hundreds of people attempting to park their cars.  Once there you can wander around the show as many times as you wish and can even brave the cold until around 11.30pm if you so wish! There’s plenty opportunities to enjoy a mulled wine or hot chocolate whilst making your way around the forest trail, as well as a camp fire for you to toast some marshmallows on.

The Enchanted Forest is a great, festive and unconventional way to appreciate the Scottish outdoors and spend an evening- and all within a short journey from Dundee!
