The halfway mark – my hopes

So, in the past 2 posts I shared with you my blessings and regrets of the past 2 years. Now I would to tell you more about my hopes and objectives for the next few years I have left in Dundee. One thing, I have realized is that life is short and when I was reflecting on the past few years, the one thing I felt most about was how short the past 2 years were. It went by so quickly and I can’t believe I only have 2.5 years more to go. Anyway, here are some of expectations for the next couple of years:

  • Endurance

One thing I didn’t not realise previously, but I do now, a degree isn’t a sprint but a marathon. It requires a lot of endurance and it tests your patience and passion for the subject at all corners. I know that now and I hope to better myself and my expectation for the course for the coming years. It is definitely not going to be easy, but I can at least help myself pace and take on the challenges one at a time. I feel that it will truly be a more positive way to approach the issue rather than to then to feel like drinking from a water hydrant.

For endurance to be possible, I strongly believe that the passion for the subject needs to be strong as well. Especially for degrees such as medicine, dentistry, architecture and essentially all kinds of Arts degrees, as we wouldn’t be able to see the effects or our progress until we graduate or put our skills to the test. And tests, naturally come with their own set of challenges. So, I truly hope to be able to keep my passion for medicine alive and hope to have the will and strength to get through the finishing line

  • Awareness

Another thing, I have been quite oblivious to is the environment and the social circles I am part of. I have since learnt that not all people are the same and are not what they seem. I am glad I have come to understand this valuable piece of truth and I hope this newfound knowledge will help me more aware of these situations in the future.

With awareness comes, the need for filtering. The more aware a person becomes the more careful that person has to be to not be too bothered by the things that is happening around them. Optimism is the way to go, only caring about the constructive criticism and not taking the negativity to heart is certainly a way to feel better about life!

  • Travel

It has been one of my deepest regrets and hopefully something I will be able to work on in the coming years. I only have 2.5 years left and I still have most of the European continent to discover and I truly hope to do so in the years coming.

Conclusion

I have done 3 posts as part of my series halfway mark and I hope it has been useful to those who have been reading and following. Apologies for the long intervals between the posts, but please do a keep a look out the next few posts which will be coming back to back. Till my next post!
