Not getting broke as a student is hard but not impossible.
Over my last few years at uni I have been trying different ways to keep to budget and honestly Monzo has been a life changer. Firstly, what exactly is Monzo? It is an online banking system that is extremely transparent and visual. For me, banking has become more than numbers, it has become patterns and trends.
The best way to explain the benefits is to go through some of my favourite Monzo features. Here are some really helpful ones that revolutionised my relationship with money:
1. You can see transactions immediately you make them
No waiting three days to see your transactions and balance. Immediately I make a payment I can see it on Monzo which helps me keep track of my money on the go.
2. Pots
I have been able to manage money better by creating money pots for all my bills including weekly spending. These pots are locked till the week I am meant to have access to the money. This means no more really hard last week of the month, more like hard last day of the week which is so much better (trust me).
I also have savings pots for things I would like, I can get Monzo to round up all my transactions into one of my savings pots as well.
3. Cheaper Travelling
Monzo does not charge when you travel abroad and spend money which is great for a travelling student!
4. Aesthetic
The app is very aesthetically pleasing and just easy to use. For me it encourages better spending and helps me see things in a very visual way.
There are lots of other features that are great about Monzo. I have recommended it to some of my friends and they love it!
