Feeling a Little Bored of the Same Four Walls?

Wanting to spruce up your bedroom or flat?

Especially now with so much of our time spent studying in our flats its important to make our spaces feel comfortable, joyous, and most importantly like our own. With that in mind here are some great places in Dundee to have a browse and find some great items to spruce up your place, without breaking the bank.

While we go into winter, indoor plants can be great to bring in some greenery and life to your space. Rosebud Florist, on Perth Road, is a great place to check out for some affordable plants. I bought my first plants from Rosebud only a few weeks ago. With a small room, I was able to find some small potted plants that make a fantastic addition to my room. The Florist was super helpful in recommending some great plants that would suit the space and light, and all for a reasonable price.

Now, what to do with all that wall space? A classic place to start is of course with some printed pictures on the wall. You can never go wrong with photos. If you’re looking to print photos, I would recommend exploring some of the mobile photo apps as they often offer lots of deals. For example, Snapfish gives you 50 free prints a month using their mobile app, and all you have to pay is postage. Other options, like Freeprints or Photobox also exist.

But if you are looking for some other cool decorations, head along to the Oxfam Bookstore Charity Shop on Reform Street. This store has some great selections of old postcards, maps and other interesting bits and pieces that make for great wall decorations. For super cheap prices, you can find some unique pieces. So, spend an afternoon browsing through some of their shelves.

Needing some furniture? If you’re looking for some bigger pieces like lamps or need more storage, like bedside tables then look no further than Tayside Re-users. Located on Douglas Street, this store has all sorts of hidden treasures. One of my favourite places to browse is their wonderfully named Aladdin’s Cave. This upstairs hideaway has all sorts of gems in it of random bits and bobs. Tayside Re-users is a fantastic place to source items for your flat as you can do it on a tight budget while also shopping second hand and preventing waste.

These are just some places in Dundee where you can find some affordable unique pieces to put your own touch on your own flat and bedroom. As always when decorating, find pieces you love and be creative.
