Happy International Mother Earth Day!

In these gripping times, our planet needs to be protected from the ongoing pandemic and the surging climate change devouring it by the day. And today, the 22nd of April is celebrated as International Mother Earth Day.
Isn’t it interesting how we refer to the planet as a mother? This rather abiotic being nurtures and cares for its biotic inhabitants! Nature, irrespective of living or non-living, has a built-in way of giving back in a much greater manner than we can imagine. Be it in the endless shade and oxygen showered on us by the perineal trees over decades, or be it in the fossilized remain of our molecular ancestors that fuel our movement. And yet, we fail to give back.
How hard is it for each individual to nurture a few plants? How hard is it to replace your plastic grocery bags with a cloth bag? There are very small lifestyle changes that can be made by each individual, which will add up to a considerable impact when scaled to a bigger population. Although governments worldwide have a moral liability to account for nature and prevent its exploitation, we as individuals also have a role to play!
So today, let’s vow to make a small and yet significant impact on the global climate in our unique manner.
Happy International Mother Earth Day!
