A new semester, a new start, and the age-old need for motivation are what make university life interesting. In this blog, I would like to share 2 motivational documentaries that will persuade you to get up and do whatever it is that you intend to! I hope that these recommendations will help you find the energy that you need at the start of this semester!
- 14 peaks: nothing is impossible!
This documentary on Netflix follows the ambitious project of Nirmal Purja (a Nepali mountaineer) of breaking records in mountaineering! It will take you through an emotional journey that will redefine the ‘impossible’ and convince you to look beyond your circumstances (which at times restrict us because of our own doing). This is a good watch for those instances when you start defining your ambitions with the perspectives of those around you (when perhaps it is not needed)!
2. 14 minutes from Earth!
If you enjoy the journey of a good old scientific ambition, this documentary is a must-watch! It covers the voyage of a Senior Vice-President at Google Alan Eustace and his secrete project of going to the stratosphere ( a rather inaccessible layer of the atmosphere). It is filled with moments of engineering marvel, the craziness of ambitions, and fleeting moments of emotions. As with any science documentary, you don’t need to be in any mood for this binge!
These documentaries will remind you that your only limitations lie in the scope of your imagination. It is not the circumstances that define you, but the way you act during those circumstances. There are many instances during university life that will make you feel as though you are lost, but in these moments, it is sometimes wise to remind ourselves that our journeys, like every other human, is about being part of a compelling story (one that allows us to broaden our perspectives and grow)!
I hope you find these documentaries interesting and motivating!
