Free period products! A guide to getting some for you or a menstruating friend

I think the most exciting thing that has happened in my time in Scotland was when the Government announced the free period product initiative. But what does it really mean?

It means that public spaces, such as public libraries, city council buildings and others have to provide menstruation products to their citizens.

Currently, you can often find period products within DUSA bathrooms, as well as most (if not all) university buildings in Dundee. However, where do you go when getting a couple of pads isn’t enough or you want to explore reusable options?

  1. The University of Dundee Preventing Period Poverty Society!

The society offers free period products stalls on a monthly basis (almost) and you can find out about the stalls through their Instagram! Products available include menstruation cups, reusable pads, reusable period pants and single use pads and tampons!

2. The Dundee City Council

The City Council has partnered up with Hey Girls! to provide Dundee City residents with free period products! Just fill out the form here and wait for a two month supply of period products to reach your door! (fair warning this might take more than a month to reach your door)

I hope this was of help to you and good luck!
