This summer over 100 students from China travelled the 4,700 miles to come to Dundee for a fortnight… and 30 students from Dundee did the same trip but in reverse.
Chinese students from five different universities came to Dundee this summer to take part in our annual summer school. We gave them the chance to get a taster of what it’s like to be a student at Dundee. Their activities were based within the School of Science and Engineering, but they also got to sample the School of Medicine and Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design.
Outwith their teaching sessions they were taken on tours of Dundee, and further afield in Scotland. At the end of their two weeks they gave a group presentation on either their subject area, the things they’d learned while they were in Dundee or the city itself.

But then… 4700 miles away – a group of Dundee students were busy experiencing China for themselves
30 students from across the University were picked to spend 8 weeks in China. They spent most of their time at the East China University of Science and Technology.
They got to find out about water, civil, biomedical and global engineering in China. They also got to visit a number of local businesses and industry visits and delved into Chinese culture, and even got to take a trip to the Great Wall of China.
