This is Jake.

You might remember him as our Graduation Dog. If you missed his debut – just watch the below video…

Did you enjoy that? Well now Jake has a very different role. He’s been protecting the dragons in Monikie Country Park as part of Dragon Matrix – a theatrical, mystical spectacular that will see visitors embark on a quest to track six dragon stones, stolen from the Museum of Dragons.

The augmented reality light show will get visitors to use a specially designed app to manoeuvre around the park and solve the puzzle.

Animation graduate, Saara Väkiparta, helped to put the app together.

Saara, who is now freelancing in Finland after graduating from DJCAD last Summer said, “The animation team was on top form creating great new characters for Dragon Matrix. The challenging part was keeping the new characters true to the existing ones from last year, but we managed quite well – with the larger cast of characters, this year will have even more surprises in store.”

Dragon Matrix opens tonight and runs until Halloween. For more information go to the Dragon Matrix website.

We’re also on the look out for more great Alumni stories. If you’ve got a great tale to tell email alumni@dundee.ac.uk to get involved with our latest ‘I Am’ campaign.
